Richard Smith's crowded drawings present us with a
hallucinatory tide of faces, haunting and insistent, like
a sea of dead souls. He leaves us uncertain whether
they are being conjured up or kept at bay. Solitude and
the lack of outside company seems to have led to this
spooky invasion.
